A practical path to essential home repairs.
For households with limited income, a written exchange of goods or services may help cover construction labour when needed work is otherwise out of reach.
If your home needs important repair or improvement work and the labour cost is a barrier, tell us about the project. You would purchase and provide the materials approved for the job. Mitchell Construction can help identify suitable products, compare purchasing options and look for cost savings where possible.
We can then consider useful items, in-kind goods, trade skills or other services as a full or partial exchange for our labour. You do not need to have a trade skill to ask. We discuss what is genuinely useful to the business and agree on a fair value together.
This program is intended for households facing a financial barrier to necessary work. We will consider inquiries confidentially and do not ask you to upload income documents with your first message.
HOW IT WORKS
Four clear steps.
The first conversation is simply a chance to understand the work and explore whether an exchange is possible.
2. Plan the materials
We review the scope and help identify materials that meet the job’s requirements. You purchase and supply approved materials.
3. Discuss an exchange
Suggest items, equipment, skills or services you could offer. We review their usefulness and agree on a documented value.
4. Put it in writing
Before work begins, we set out scope, timing, material responsibilities, labour value, exchange value, any remaining payment and applicable tax.
GOOD TO KNOW
Every arrangement is individual.
Examples may include useful tools or equipment, professional or practical services, or other items the business can use. An exchange can cover all or part of the agreed labour value. We will explain any cash balance and applicable HST before an agreement is signed.
Work depends on available capacity, the condition of the property, safety, required approvals and whether the proposed exchange is a good fit. Materials must meet the specifications for the work. If you are not the property owner, we will need the owner’s authorization before any work begins.
Submitting an inquiry does not commit you to an exchange or guarantee that a project can be accepted.
